The tiger is the largest of the cat species being able to reach a weight of 650+ pounds. All remaining tiger species are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s endangered species list. This is mainly due to their natural habitat being cut by nearly 93 percent in Asia and European countries. One organization, Save China’s Tigers, is an international charity foundation based in Hong Kong, the US, and the UK which aims to save the tigers of China from extinction. The global tiger population currently sits around 4,000 as compared to 100,000 during the 19th century. Save China’s Tigers focuses on reintroducing tigers into the wild by breeding, teaching survival skills, and later releasing the tigers back into the wild.
